Who would have thought 2017 would come around so quickly? It’s been a huge year in many ways, and there’s no doubt a lot of people will be looking to start the New Year afresh.
Here are a handful of ways to reinvent yourself in 2017 and change your life!
How about a hobby?
Being a grown up often leads to people letting go of favourite pasttimes. There are simply too many things to get done, whether that’s studying for exams, looking after the kids, or simply keeping the house in good order.
A hobby that you love can remind you of your passions, and ensure you get some time to yourself every week. You could reignite an old love such as painting, fishing or yoga - or start up something completely new such as guitar playing, flower arranging or bird watching!
Even if you don’t find one you love right away, getting out there and trying new things will add something new and exciting to your routines, and give you something to look forward to.
Splash into style
A new personal style is a quick, fun, and adventurous way to refresh your life. Have you ever wanted to try a new hair colour or cut? Book in your appointment! How about experimenting with a new style in your fashion choices? A bright and fun piece of jewellery such as this white gold amethyst pendant could be the perfect beginning to a more vibrant wardrobe.
Pass on possessions
There is a way of living known as ‘100 things or less’. It suggests that you cut your life down to just 100 items or less - whether it’s a pair of shoes, a perfume, or a diamond engagement ring.
While that would be a huge task, consider how much you could cut down by. Many of us hold onto things we no longer need or use, and they could be better off donated to charity, or even sold for a little extra pocket money. Do a stocktake of your accumulated possessions and see how many of them you really need.
Why not well-being?
Well-being and health are some of the most common New Year’s resolutions around. Many people will aim to lose a certain amount of kilos come 2017, but rather than focus on numbers - try focusing on your health.
This may mean spending more time on home-cooked meals, a little less alcohol, or a little more ‘me’ time simply reading a good book.
Get into goals
If you’re the kind of person who has always been motivated by goals, start getting back into the habit of setting them every day. Daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly goals can help you do things you had never thought possible!
Consider adding goals such as catching up with an old friend, re-reading your favourite book, or trying a new restaurant every month for something a little different.
A year of ‘Yes!’
The Jim Carrey movie ‘Yes Man’ might be a silly bit of fun, but it can also give you the inspiration you need for a whole new you in 2017.
The next time someone asks you to do something, say yes. There are so many times when we will turn down invites to go camping, attend a concert, or simply try and early morning fitness class because we’re too tired, broke, or busy. Instead, do everything you can to make it happen, and enjoy a year of adventures and new experiences!
