Engagement ring trends are much like any kind of fashion trends. There are new innovations and ideas, bold statements to be made, and trends from the past that have a way of coming around again to be more popular than ever before.
While all anybody wants in an engagement ring is the promise of a lifetime of love that comes with it, a gorgeous trendy ring won’t go unnoticed!
Here are five current beautiful engagement ring trends.
Vintage engagement rings are taking a turn in the fashion spotlight these days. It’s largely due to the fact that the vintage style in itself has made an incredible come back through fashion in clothing, design, hair styles, and even a few odd things such as bicycles and typewriters!
A vintage ring can be just about anything. You’ll find rings laden with both diamonds and other precious stones such as ruby and emerald, as well as a few pearl rings for something totally different. Many vintage rings have yellow gold bands, and pave stones on the band itself are another regular feature.
When royals William and Kate got engaged, Will proposed with his mother’s engagement ring – a stunning blue oval sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds. This is just one beautiful example of an engagement ring where a coloured stone is the central feature, rather than the usual diamond.
As well as sapphire, emerald, ruby, and opal are all fairly common gemstone choices, but there’s really no limit on where you can go with this. You can even talk to our jewellers about making something totally unique!
- Emerald Cut
At first glance, an emerald cut diamond might look like a particularly eye-catching rectangular stone.
Take a closer look, and you’ll notice how the light shimmers and catches on each step cut around its rim. It’s like stepping into a hall of mirrors – but made with diamonds. The long cut of this style is particularly elegant, and as the name suggests, it was originally designed for emeralds, but can now be used for any stone.
- Rose Gold
Yellow gold was in the spotlight for a long time, and white gold is highly popular, but it’s rose gold that’s currently a hot favourite trend.
When used in an engagement ring and wedding band, the rose gold colour offers a lovely warm glow that works beautifully with all skin tones. It has a pinkish hue to the gold, and offsets any diamond or gemstone within the ring.
- Mixed Metals
Mixed metals in engagement rings are popular both in male and female rings. For the guys, it can be any combination of yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, titanium, tungsten, or something else.
For women’s engagement and wedding rings, it’s most commonly a mix of two shades of gold (rose, yellow, or white) but there’s really no limit to how you can make this unique trend work for you!
