If there’s anyone who needs to feel special, it’s a new mother who’s running flat out looking after the new little one in her life. It’s one of the most important jobs there is, but it’s also one of the most tiring and tough roles.
When you want to remind the new mum in your life just how special she is, here are five wonderful ways to do it!
1. Be a home helper
When a new baby arrives, many people will say something along the lines of “If you need any help, just let me know”. While this offer is well-intentioned and certainly meant genuinely, it’s rare for a mum to ask for help.
Instead, say something along the lines of “I’m coming over to vacuum your house and cook you a meal, does Wednesday afternoon work for you?”. Simply pick a couple of chores to help with then say you’re going to do it, as even those little things can make a huge difference to her workload.
2. Help her relax with a spa day
Enlist her parents, partner or another trusted family member or friend to look after the baby, then whisk her away for a relaxing day at the spa. Enjoy massages, manicures, pedicures, and everything else on the menu, and most importantly, time away from the house and the demands of a new baby!
3. Treat her to something sparkly
Many new mums know that it’s hard enough to dress their newborn, let alone themselves! This very understandably tends to lead to the classic messy bun, sweatpants and t-shirt combo that’s as comfortable as it is practical.
Don’t let her forget that she’s a princess no matter what she’s wearing, and bring her a gift that will forever remind her of this exciting, exhausting and utterly rewarding early stage in her new arrival’s life. A Passion 8 straight bar pendant is a beautiful example of something fantastically sparkly that she can wear throughout the year.
4. Have flowers delivered
Like jewellery, flowers will always be one of those gifts that will make anyone smile. A bouquet is something that she can enjoy at home even when she’s tired or cleaning up after the little one.
This is an especially good gift idea if you don’t live in the same spot or don’t have the time to visit her in person!
5. Make her a survival pack
A survival pack is a fun idea that you’ll enjoy putting together - but not nearly as much as she’ll enjoy opening. Think of all the things a new mum might need to ‘survive’ her new bub’s early days. For example, wet wipes, moisturiser and a baby bib are a few great practical items, but you can also have a bit of fun with it by adding things like coffee, a stress ball, or a stunning pair of yellow gold hoop earrings!
