Regardless of whether it’s your fifth anniversary or your 17th, every anniversary is a special one. Here are a few romantic ways to celebrate the day you and your loved one said “I do”.
Writing love letters
Love letters are traditionally the domain of love-struck teens and long-distance relationships, which is why writing them for one another is a beautiful reminder of your relationship.
Include some of your favourite times together, a few photos and some things you’re looking forward to in future so that your spouse can read it whenever he or she wants to (even if that’s every day).
Thank the person who got you together
In many relationships, there is a person or another couple who introduced you to your spouse. It could have been your boss at work, a close friend, or a family member. Whoever it was, organise with your partner a fitting way to say thanks to the person who made all of it possible.
In the likely event of your relationship falling on a Tuesday or other weekday, take the day off and spend it together rather than just having the evening. Go for a walk, have a picnic, or relax in bed all day cuddling up and watching movies – the novelty of skipping work and the romance of spending it together makes for a simple and sweet anniversary date.
Book a couple’s photoshoot
Get in touch with your wedding photographer and see if he or she is available for a couple of hours. After your wedding day, it’s easy to stop taking photos together, so this can be a great excuse to get dressed up, head somewhere nice, and add some beautiful new photographs to your album.
